The second phase of Sekeping Kong Heng guesthouse will be placed on the first floor level of the old shop houses over a row of restaurants. The villas have their own pocket courtyards accessible yet separated from the raised pool deck by a 5 feet high wall.
This new insertions are essentially to articulate the new layout with more rooms, using light elements such as steel and cement board cladding in order to retain the sense of lightness over the existing century-old masonary and timber structures.
The new layout creates a wider range of choices to accommodate different types of guests. For instance backpackers can stay in the loft or a standard room with shared facilities, whilst families in the self-contained en- suite that has a double volume high ceiling with skylight.
