Sembonia is a leather-wear brand that prides itself on its extensive range of mid-range products that includes shoes, bags and other leather accessories. In line with a more sustainable approach towards their products by way of use of vegan leather, the company aspired to revamp its store identity.
We took a design approach that streamlines the interior into a minimal, neutral canvas for the products to take centre stage.
Upon entry on the left, a curved tiered display plinth hosts featured products. A curved wall on the right leads customers through the shoes collection towards another tiered display for featured products. The rest of the walls make up their general displays with sections separated by vertical mirrors to differentiate product types, create a visual rhythm as well as offer customers the opportunity to test the products against themselves.
The straight edges are softened with curved display shelved, ceiling, andisland counters. All carpentry works are made with a combination of painted and matt-lacquered OSB board which makes use of knotted & deformed trees that are otherwise not used, in line with the sustainable approach required by the client.
We also suggested that unusable offcuts of the vegan leather from the factory be used to form an textured wall installation behind the cashier point, allowing customers to enjoy the visual whilst queuing to pay.
Longer shelves and islands are provided towards the rear of the store, lending flexibility for product curation according to range and SKU’s.
The solid plinths provide for stock storage for the SKU’s displayed above.
